We tend to think of travel as a relatively new activity for us in the modern world, but actually the Romans created a network of roads and sea routes which spanned thousands of miles from the Near East to Britain. What is more, the Romans were quite clever at adopting and inventing new technologies that made travel easier, safer, and more comfortable than it had ever been before.
